Ici, Holm capture les courants sous-jacents du capitalisme mondial, de la militarisation et de la fragmentation sociale, offrant un récit en couches qui est autant une déclaration artistique qu’un acte politique.
Avec un avant-propos du célèbre photographe Donald Weber et cinq textes réfléchis de Holm, HRTLND est une chronique visuelle profonde de notre condition collective, offrant un portrait brutal des temps à ce jour. L’objet est une couverture souple et plate enveloppée dans une veste d’affiche française avec une carte du monde UTM imprimée sur le dos. La carte UTM est le système de coordonnées le plus utilisé dans le cadre de la planification des missions militaires. Dans HRTLND, il met en évidence la position précise de chaque image.
Les forces qui modifient notre monde aujourd’hui se fondent et se mélangent avec la vie quotidienne et deviennent ainsi très difficiles à voir. Il s’infiltre dans tout ce qui nous entoure et qui est en nous. On dirait qu’on nous aide à rester à l’abri de toutes les menaces et tous les dangers qui nous entourent. Mads Holm (né en 1990 à Copenhague) est un photographe et écrivain danois dont le travail explore les thèmes de la surveillance, du pouvoir et de la société contemporaine. Il est titulaire d’une maîtrise en photographie et société de la Royal Academy of Art, à La Haye, et d’un baccalauréat en photographie artistique de la Glasgow School of Art. Il a également étudié à l’ICP de New York et fréquenté la Fatamorgana, l’école danoise de photographie artistique. Le travail de Holm a été exposé au Danemark, au Royaume-Uni, en Allemagne et aux Pays-Bas. Son travail a été reconnu avec plusieurs prix et nominations et il a été présélectionné pour le MACK First Book Award, Kassel Dummy Award et Fiebre Dummy Award.

The object is a lay-flat softcover wrapped in a French poster jacket with a UTM world map printed on the back. The UTM map are the most used coordinate system in the context of military mission planning. In HRTLND it is highlighting the precise position of each image.
The forces that alter our world today fuse and blend with everyday life and thus become very hard to see. It seeps into everything around and inside of us. It looks like we are being helped to stay safe from all the threats and dangers out there among us. The narrative is that the enemy can be anyone and everywhere and the more we fear that enemy the more there is to secure and thus the more to control. It is smart. Mads Holm (b. 1990, Copenhagen) is a Danish photographer and writer whose work explores themes of surveillance, power, and contemporary society. He holds an MA in Photography & Society from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague and a BA in Fine Art Photography from Glasgow School of Art. He also studied at ICP in New York and attended Fatamorgana, The Danish School of Art Photography. Holm’s work has been exhibited widely across Denmark, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. His work has been recognized with several awards and nominations and he has been shortlisted for the MACK First Book Award, Kassel Dummy Award, and Fiebre Dummy Award.
