Mimi Plumb a souvent visité le belvédère pendant les vacances en visitant ses beaux-parents à Palm Desert, obsédée par la photographie d’une petite bande de route dans les vastes montagnes de San Jacinto et Santa Rosa ci-dessous. Ses centres d’intérêt se sont élargis pour inclure les jeunes et les moins jeunes qui visitent le site, fascinés par la beauté du paysage.
Mimi Plumb fait partie d’une longue tradition de photographes socialement engagés qui s’intéressent à la Californie et à l’Ouest. Elle a reçu une bourse Guggenheim en 2022 pour soutenir son projet actuel, Reservoir.
En plus de sa bourse Guggenheim, Mimi Plumb est récipiendaire du prix John Gutmann Photography Fellowship (2017), California Humanities Grant (2015), California Arts Council Individual Artist Grant (1989), James D. Phelan Art Award in Photography (1986), et le Marin Arts Council Grant (1999).

Mimi Plumb often visited the lookout during the holidays while visiting her in-laws in Palm Desert, obsessed with photographing a tiny sliver of road in the vast San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains below. Her interests expanded to include the people, young and old, visiting the site, seemingly mesmerized as she was by the stark beauty of the landscape.
Mimi Plumb is part of a long tradition of socially engaged photographers concerned with California and the West. She received a 2022 Guggenheim Fellowship in support of her current project, Reservoir.
