L’exposition présente jusqu’à 340 œuvres de 42 photographes qui, d’une part, s’inspirent de l’Arte Povera et du Néoréalisme et dans le contexte du mouvement américain New Colour et de la photographie allemande – comme enseigné par Otto Steinert à l’école Folkwang à Essen et Bernd et Hilla Becher à l’Académie d’art de Düsseldorf – d’autre part.
L’exposition, qui comprend des œuvres d’artistes tels que Luigi Ghirri, Guido Guidi, Francesco Neri, Federico Clavarino et Marcello Galvani ouvre le 27 septembre 2025 à la Kunsthalle Darmstadt et se rend ensuite dans d’autres institutions allemandes, soulignant l’influence significative de la photographie italienne sur l’histoire de l’art européen ; sous la direction de Ralph Goertz, avec une préface de León Krempel, Svenja Frank, Ralph Goertz et Corinna Otto, avec des textes de Nicoletta Leonardi et William Guerrieri.
On display will be up to 340 works by 42 photographers who, on the one hand, draw on Arte Povera and Neorealism and in the context of the American New Colour movement and German photography – as taught by Otto Steinert at the Folkwang school in Essen and Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Duesseldorf Art Academy – on the other hand.
The exhibition, which includes works by artists such as Luigi Ghirri, Guido Guidi, Francesco Neri, Federico Clavarino and Marcello Galvani opens on September 27, 2025, at the Kunsthalle Darmstadt and later travels to other German institutions, highlighting the significant influence of Italian photography on European art history ; edited by Ralph Goertz. with a foreword by León Krempel, Svenja Frank, Ralph Goertz and Corinna Otto; with texts by Nicoletta Leonardi and William Guerrieri.
