« J’ai aimé photographier Nice, j’ai aimé remonter les vallées, m’enfoncer dans les montagnes, si près, si hautes… Écouter mes guides, humer l’air sec. Sourire et oublier la ville. Découvrir le paradis et fermer les yeux. Mais il faut penser à redescendre, retrouver la douceur d’un soleil généreux… Changer de siècle, écouter les ports, revoir les palaces blancs face à la mer. Dans un café derrière la corniche regarder les mots d’une langue si haute et attendre la fin d’un jour qu’on voudrait garder longtemps dans sa mémoire » (Raymond Depardon).

“I loved taking pictures of Nice, going up through the valleys, venturing into those mountains that were so close and so high… Listening to my guides, breathing in the dry air. Smiling and forgetting the city. Discovering paradise and closing my eyes. And then it would be time to think about going back down, back to the warmth of a generous sun… Change centuries, listen to the harbors, gaze once more upon the white palaces facing the sea.
