Miyako Ishiuchi : Postwar Shadows
Un maillon de l’histoire de la photographique, Ishiuchi Miyako (née en 1947) fait son entrée sur la scène à Tokyo au milieu des années 1970, à une époque où les hommes dominaient le champ de la photographie au Japon. Travaillant prodigieusement depuis quarante ans, elle a créé une œuvre impressionnante et influencé tranquillement des générations de photographes nés dans l’après-guerre. Récipiendaire du prestigieux prix Hasselblad en 2014, Miyako Ishiuchi est l’une des photographes les plus importants travaillant au Japon aujourd’hui.
A maverick in the history of photography, Ishiuchi Miyako (b. 1947) burst onto the scene in Tokyo during the mid-1970s, at a time when men dominated the field in Japan. Working prodigiously over the last forty years, she has created an impressive œuvre and quietly influenced generations of photographers born in the postwar era. Recipient of the prestigious Hasselblad Award in 2014, Ishiuchi ranks as one of the most significant photographers working in Japan today.
