The Sierra revisite les montagnes de la Sierra Nevada à travers le contexte de la crise climatique d’aujourd’hui, un paysage
qui a longtemps façonné les idées américaines sur la nature sauvage. En combinant film grand format et post-production numérique, Aaron Rothman (US) a créé ce corpus d’une cinquantaine d’images couleur sur six ans. L’œuvre cherche à évoquer l’expérience physique d’être en montagne tout en enregistrant les changements environnementaux qui remodelent la région, et se place en dialogue avec la longue histoire de la représentation du paysage.

The Sierra revisits the Sierra Nevada mountains through the context of today’s climate crisis, a landscape that has long shaped American ideas of wilderness. Combining large-format film with digital post-production, Aaron Rothman (US) created this body of around fifty colour images over six years. The work seeks to evoke the physical experience of being in the mountains while registering the environmental changes reshaping the region, and places itself in dialogue with the long history of landscape representation.
