Cette exposition a été réalisée à la suite d’une donation exceptionnelle de l’artiste Michael Kenna.
Following an exceptional donation by artist Michael Kenna, the National Resistance Museum presents the exhibition Michael Kenna: Shadow of Light, Photographs of Nazi Camps, from October 23, 2021 to April 15, 2022, the museum’s first temporary exhibition in its new Aimé-Césaire site, located in Chamigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne, France).

Michael Kenna : Northern England 1983-1986

Michael Kenna est né dans la petite ville industrielle de Widnes, dans le nord-ouest de l’Angleterre. Le plus jeune de six enfants, Kenna a grandi dans une famille pauvre, ouvrière et catholique irlandaise. Il a fréquenté une école de séminaire pendant sept ans avec l’intention de devenir prêtre, après quoi il a étudié à la Banbury School of Art et plus tard au London College of Printing, avant de déménager aux États-Unis à la fin des années soixante-dix.
Michael Kenna was born in the small industrial town of Widnes in northwest England. The youngest of six children, Kenna grew up in a poor, working-class, Irish-Catholic family. He attended a seminary school for seven years with the intention of becoming a priest, after which he studied at the Banbury School of Art and later at the London College of Printing, before moving to the USA in the late seventies.
