Le langage de Lee Jae Bok est simple. Il ne contourne jamais. Il en va de même pour le livre photo Dong Bu Chang Ko – Take Over, qui a été photographié pendant la période de transition de l’installation du rôle classique à un nouvel espace culturel. Le livre a choisi le terme droit de ‘reprendre’ que nous utilisons normalement pour décrire le processus de ‘transmission et de réussite de l’œuvre’. En outre, sa photographie capture l’aspect ‘brut’ des espaces sans essayer de surélever le paysage donné : les façades du bâtiment où le temps passe, les chantiers remplis de débris, la charpente en bois laissée seule sans le toit, etc. [… ]
Lee Jae Bok’s language is straightforward. He never circumlocutes. The same is for the photobook Dong Bu Chang Ko – Take Over, which has been photographed during the period of transition of the facility from the classical role to a new cultural space. The book chose the straight term ‘take over’ that we use normally to describe the process of ‘passing on and succeeding work’. In addition, his photography is capturing the ‘raw’ aspect of spaces without trying to overembellish the given scenery: façades of building whee the flow of time is engraved, construction sites filled with debris, wooden framework left alone without the roof, etc.[…]

Genoa – Il Bel Paese est un voyage le long des 4 365 km du littoral italien qui nous donne une image inédite de notre pays. De Trieste à Vintimille, l’itinéraire, non seulement géographique mais aussi inspirateur de la mémoire collective, aborde des dizaines de lieux symboliques, de Venise à la Riviera romagnole et à la côte adriatique jusqu’à Leuca, en passant par la côte ionienne des Pouilles jusqu’à la Calabre, puis en remontant la péninsule avec les étapes traditionnelles du voyage italien, de Paestum à Naples, de Rome et de la campagne romaine aux chutes des Marmore, à Florence et à la côte toscane, pour arriver enfin à Gênes. -

“J’ai regardé Papy et Mamie disparaître.
Mais je me suis demandé comment vous montrer cela, comment rendre compte de la perte lente d’un être aimé atteint par la maladie d’Alzheimer, comment signifier l’altération de la perception de la réalité et du lien familial. La distance qui s’insinue et grandit sans cesse. J’ai imaginé des procédés esthétiques pour chaque étape.
Papy est resté bloqué dans un passé noir et blanc, rugueux, alors que Mamie continuait d’évoluer dans des couleurs vives. Puis Mamie est tombée malade. J’ai continué à la photographier avec des pellicules périmées aux couleurs délavées. Sa maladie s’est aggravée: j’ai voilé les films et provoqué des entrées de lumières.
Elle a perdu la tête: j’ai altéré son image avec des produits chimiques.
