Le 9 juin 2020, l’artiste Oleñka Carrasco apprend par un appel vidéo que son père est décédé. Le livre Patria est le récit bouleversant de ce deuil, des questionnements identitaires qu’il fait surgir, et d’une façon plus générale de l’histoire du Vénézuela et de ses exilé·es depuis 2015, date du dernier voyage de l’artiste dans son pays natal.
