The publication of the book ‘Tony Ray Jones’ coincided with an exhibition to mark the important contribution that Tony Ray-Jones (1941 – 1972) and his legacy, have made to British documentary photography.
“Tony Ray -Jones was one of my initial inspirations as a photographer. His imagery showed me what was possible in shooting my own country. In 2012 I went through his contact sheets and found previously unseen images. These all contributed to a show the Media Space in 2013 where his iconic early images were shown alongside these new discoveries. There has not been a book of Tony Ray-Jones’s work in print for many years, so this new publication, from Martin Parr Foundation and RRB Photobooks will correct this oversight and the accompanying show will give us a chance to enjoy this important photographer’s immense contribution to British documentary photography.” – Martin Parr

Une génération de yuppies dorés et confiants dépensait librement, il y avait une nouvelle mentalité hédoniste, qui n’avait jamais été aussi cool. En conséquence, la publicité était abondante et aventureuse; les nouveaux magazines couleur prospéraient et commandaient de la photographie comme jamais auparavant.
Colour Works is a collection of images Homer Sykes made during the 1980s and 90s. This was a golden period for magazine commissions; they were the Thatcher years. A gilded and confident yuppie generation spent freely, there was a new hedonistic, ‘never had it so cool’ loads of money mentality. As a result advertising was plentiful and adventurous; the new colour magazines prospered and commissioned photography as never before.

Pour Anna Fox et Alison Goldfrapp (chanteuse du groupe Goldfrapp), qui ont grandi dans et autour de la ville d’Alton (Angleterre) dans les années 1970, un froid persistant planait sur Flood Meadows, un coin bucolique du Hampshire rural. L’héritage de l’horrible meurtre et du démembrement de Fanny Adams, huit ans, dont les parties du corps ont été progressivement retrouvées dispersées dans les prairies, s’est prolongé – plus de cent ans plus tard – dans une menace actuelle de violence. Dans les combats d’adolescents et la misogynie tout autour d’eux.
For Anna Fox and Alison Goldfrapp, growing up in and around the town of Alton (England) in the 1970s, a lingering chill hung over Flood Meadows, a bucolic corner of rural Hampshire. The legacy of the gruesome 1867 murder and dismemberment of eight-year-old Fanny Adams, whose body parts were gradually found scattered across the meadows, lingered on – over one hundred years later – in a current threat of violence, in the adolescent fights and misogyny all around them.
