Le dernier projet d’Elger Esser est dédié à un haut lieu de l’architecture médiévale française, l’abbaye bénédictine du Mont-Saint-Michel dans les vasières normandes. Mandaté par le gouvernement français pour célébrer le millénaire de l’abbaye en 2023, il a photographié le Mont-Saint-Michel et son paysage environnant et l’a transformé en images à couper le souffle pour être exposé dans l’abbaye.
Elger Esser (*1967) est le premier « hérétique » de la Düsseldorf Becher School. Connu pour ses paysages atmosphériques fréquemment pris en France et en Italie, son projet le plus récent explore un point culminant de l’architecture médiévale, l’abbaye bénédictine du Mont-Saint-Michel dans les vasières de Normandie. Visité par plus de 3,5 millions de touristes par an, il est inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco depuis 1979.

Elger Esser’s latest project is dedicated to a highlight of French medieval architecture, the Benedictine abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel in the Normandy mud flats. Commissioned by the French government to celebrate the abbey’s millennium in 2023, he photographed Mont-Saint-Michel and its surrounding landscape and turned it into breathtaking images to be exhibited in the abbey.
Elger Esser (*1967) made his mark as the first ”heretic“ of the Düsseldorf Becher School. Known for his atmospheric landscapes frequently taken in France and Italy, his most recent project explores a highlight of medieval architecture, the Benedictine Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel in the Normandy mud flats.
