Quand la forêt de Notre-Dame a pris feu, nous étions chez nous, à deux kilomètres de distance. Nous avions chacun notre appareil photo, chacun notre zoom, ce qui nous rendait libres de nos désirs. De notre fenêtre, rendus non humains par le téléobjectif, il n’était pas tout à fait impossible d’imaginer le point de vue des oiseaux. Ce n’était plus Notre-Dame qui brûlait, ni même une cathédrale, encore moins le futur symbole du réarmement national. Ce n’était plus un incendie, mais simplement une immense perturbation de l’espace aérien. Une colonne convective épaisse, ardente, chaotique s’élevait en plein Paris.
When the forest of Notre-Dame caught fire, Lola Raban-Oliva and Jean René Etienne were at home, just two kilometers away. Each had their own camera, their own zoom lens. From their window, it became almost possible to imagine the perspective of birds. It was no longer Notre-Dame burning, nor even a cathedral. Not a fire, but a vast disruption of the aerial space.
