Une rencontre à Hong Kong entre Tokyo Rumando et Chris Shaw a été l’étincelle qui a détourné les instantanés occasionnels en une œuvre plus cohérente, qui avait une vie propre et devait être conclue, dans le processus reliant Tokyo et Hong Kong, Paris et Londres, l’Asie et l’Europe.

During the span of a year, the paths of photographer and galerist Mark Pearson and self-portrait artist Tokyo Rumando lead them to share the same four cities at the same time.
“I have grown into the habit of taking photographs whenever and wherever I am. I had photographed Tokyo Rumando as part of this stream of images for several years in Tokyo.
An encounter in Hong Kong between Tokyo Rumando and Chris Shaw was the spark which turned
casual snapshots into a more coherent work, which had a life of its own and needed to be
concluded, in the process bridging Tokyo and Hong Kong, Paris and London, Asia and Europe.
