Au cours de la préparation de son film ‘Casa de Lava’ (1994), le cinéaste portugais Pedro Costa a compilé ce qu’il a vu, lu, ses nombreuses idées et images dans un album au lieu d’un scénario.
Peintures, photos de films, lettres, articles de journaux, gribouillis, citations de romans, cartes postales, lignes de dialogue, instantanés, qui l’ont guidé tout au long du tournage du film et qu’il a continué – et terminé – après son retour à Lisbonne.
Ce bloc-notes couvert vert est devenu un objet autonome, un enregistrement visuel de la façon de penser de Costa ; scrapbook en portugais, contient un livret à-part en français, anglais et portugais, comprenant le texte de Philippe Azoury et l’entretien entre Nuno Crespo et Pedro Costa.
During the course of the production preparation for his film ‘Casa de Lava’ (1994), portuguese filmmaker Pedro Costa compiled what he saw, what he read, his many ideas and images into a scrapbook instead of a screenplay.
Paintings, movie stills, letters, newspaper articles, scribbles, quotes from novels, postcards, lines of dialogue, snapshots, that guided him throughout the shooting of the film and that he continued – and finished – after returning to Lisboa.
This green covered notebook became an autonomous object, a visual record of Costa’s way of thinking ; scrapbook in portuguese, contains a separate booklet in french, english and portuguese, including the text by Philippe Azoury and the interview between Nuno Crespo and Pedro Costa.
