La photographe japonaise Yuki Onodera se désigne avec humour comme le « onzième doigt » lorsqu’elle prend des clichés furtifs de passants dans les rues de la ville.

Japanese photographer Yuki Onodera facetiously refers to herself as the eleventh finger when taking surreptitious snapshots of strangers on city streets.

Afin de masquer ses sujets, elle a créé des motifs découpés complexes mêlant toutes sortes de formes, allant du floral et de l’animal au géométrique et à l’iconique. Ceux-ci sont ensuite superposés à l’image photographique avant l’exposition des tirages agrandis. Les photogrammes qui en résultent peuvent être interprétés comme d’étranges visualisations ou diffusions des schémas de pensée à la fois structurés et fragmentés, apparemment absurdes, des sujets anonymes et pris au dépourvu, serpentant et ondoyant dans l’air autour d’eux.

In order to mask her subjects, she created elaborate cut-out patterns that blend together all sorts of motifs, from floral and animal to geometric and iconic. These she then superimposed over the photographic image prior to exposing the enlarged prints. The resulting photograms can be interpreted as bizarre visualisations or broadcasts of the simultaneously structured and fragmented, seemingly nonsensical thought patterns of the anonymous and unguarded subjects, snaking and billowing through the air around them.
