Since its publication, Eduardo Masferre has been recognized as the father of Philippine photography. A self-taught photographer, who trekked on foot throughout the Cordillera producing images from glass-plate negatives, documented the tribal people of Luzon, in the same way that Edward Curtis documented the American Indian.
