Tamiko Nishimura : Looking Back
Les photographies de la publication “Looking Back” (2024) de Tamiko Nishimura ont été prises entre 1968 et 1970.
Elles proviennent de photographies prises alors que Nishimura était encore étudiante dans une école de photographie, lors d’explorations dans la région d’Okinawa avant l’entrée en vigueur de l’accord de réversion en 1971, à ses voyages dans le nord du Japon.
The photographs in Tamiko Nishimura’s 2024 publication “Looking Back” were taken between 1968 and the 1970s.
They range from photographs taken while Nishimura was still a student at a photography school, to explorations of Okinawa before the Reversion Agreement came into effect in 1971, to her travels in northern Japan.

Hiromi Tsuchida, “Ouroboros” est composé de deux séries interdépendantes tournées entre le début des années 1990 et 2005. En 1991, après la fin de la bulle économique qui a alimenté la croissance et la prospérité extraordinaires du Japon dans les années 1980, Tsuchida a commencé une série qu’il a appelée “Industrial Archaeology”, qui se concentrait sur les usines et autres sites industriels des industries clés de la bulle. Puis, en 1993, il a lancé un projet adjacent appelé “Fake Scape”, dans lequel il photographiait des boutiques aux designs flashy et excentriques trouvés le long des autoroutes et dans les banlieues des grandes villes.

In 1991, after the end of the economic bubble that fueled Japan’s extraordinary growth and prosperity in the 1980s, Tsuchida began a series he called “Industrial Archaeology,” which focused on factories and other industrial sites of the bubble’s key industries. Then, in 1993, he began an adjacent project called “Fake Scape,” in which he photographed shops with flashy, eccentric designs found along highways and in the suburbs of major cities.
In “Ouroboros,” the two series juxtapose and complement each other, with Tsuchida’s colorful photographs depicting the visual chaos of industrial clutter and the emerging beauty of artificial landscapes.
