Le langage de Lee Jae Bok est simple. Il ne contourne jamais. Il en va de même pour le livre photo Dong Bu Chang Ko – Take Over, qui a été photographié pendant la période de transition de l’installation du rôle classique à un nouvel espace culturel. Le livre a choisi le terme droit de ‘reprendre’ que nous utilisons normalement pour décrire le processus de ‘transmission et de réussite de l’œuvre’. En outre, sa photographie capture l’aspect ‘brut’ des espaces sans essayer de surélever le paysage donné : les façades du bâtiment où le temps passe, les chantiers remplis de débris, la charpente en bois laissée seule sans le toit, etc. [… ]
Lee Jae Bok’s language is straightforward. He never circumlocutes. The same is for the photobook Dong Bu Chang Ko – Take Over, which has been photographed during the period of transition of the facility from the classical role to a new cultural space. The book chose the straight term ‘take over’ that we use normally to describe the process of ‘passing on and succeeding work’. In addition, his photography is capturing the ‘raw’ aspect of spaces without trying to overembellish the given scenery: façades of building whee the flow of time is engraved, construction sites filled with debris, wooden framework left alone without the roof, etc.[…]

Lors des élections présidentielles américaines de 2016, la photographe japonaise Fumi Nagasaka a été intriguée par la campagne et le sud des États-Unis. Elle a vécu à New York pendant une décennie, mais en dépit de voyager dans le monde, n’a pas encore visité le reste des États-Unis. Tout cela a changé lorsque son amie, Tanya Rouse, l’a invitée dans sa ville natale de Dora, en Alabama. Nagasaka a continué à visiter Dora pendant plusieurs années, construisant progressivement une archive photographique de ses visites. Une sélection de ces photographies est incluse dans son nouveau livre Dora, Yerkwood, Walker County, Alabama.
During the 2016 US Presidential elections Japanese photographer, Fumi Nagasaka, became intrigued by the rural and southern USA. She had lived in New York City for a decade but despite travelling the world, had yet to visit the rest of the US. All this changed when her friend, Tanya Rouse, invited her to her hometown of Dora, Alabama. Nagasaka continued to visit Dora over several years, gradually building a photographic archive of her visits. A selection of these photographs are included in her new book Dora, Yerkwood, Walker County, Alabama.
