Ici, Uemoto présente un portrait psychologique dans une tentative de donner un sens à une réalité très éloignée de l’ère matérialiste dans laquelle il est né ; inclus est une postface d’Uemoto Hiroshi disponible en japonais et en anglais.

Found within the pages of this book are a series of photographs which document the former training site of the Kaiten (manned torpedo), used during the last year of Japan’s war efforts. Having visited the island in his early twenties, Uemoto was confronted with the unimaginable realities of which the young men enlisted in the Special Attack Forces of the Japanese Imperial military faced during both their training and their ultimate purpose in the suicide missions. Here Uemoto presents a psychological portrait at an attempt at making sense of a reality far removed from the materialist era in which he was born ; included within is an afterword by Uemoto Hiroshi available in both Japanese and English.
