Organisé par Bas Princen et Stefano Graziani, ce projet vise à disséquer la pratique d’artistes et de photographes dont le travail a contribué à définir les étapes de transformation de la discipline au cours des cinquante dernières années sur des sujets spécifiques, de la notion de paysage à la complexité de l’archive en tant que format de projet, entre autres. Il adopte l’idée du documentaire comme une qualité intrinsèque du langage photographique et questionne la pertinence et l’actualité de la photographie comme moyen d’interroger notre environnement et d’interpréter les mécanismes qui façonnent notre monde visible. Tracing the research materials, archiving practices and production processes of diverse authors, photographers Bas Princen and Stefano Graziani highlight a selection of photographic projects that model our visible world by investigating notions of landscape and its destruction, global infrastructure, intimacy and interiority, and conditions of urban and domestic space and life. This publication follows Princen and Graziani’s travels to understand how artists use photography as a tool for their artistic research and how they conceive of their projects as evolving and expanding explorations.
