Le projet de cette série qui a commencé dans les années 1980, Tokyo 2005-2007 contient des images qui ont principalement été prises à Shinjuku, Asakusa et Shibuya. Les images reflètent et représentent non seulement les individus qui habitent les espaces de la ville, mais aussi l’atmosphère des rues elles-mêmes. Il capture magnifiquement à la fois le sujet et son espace, aucun ne prenant un plus grand rôle à l’autre, mais chacun représenté en équilibre complet, harmonieux et interdépendant.
« Contrairement aux exressions faciales et aux gestes des gens, et à la lumière, qui demeure fondamentalement inchangée au fil du temps, il est presque déconcertant de voir à quel point les modes et la ville changent de façon si spectaculaire. C’est une habitude pour moi que mes photographies soient peuplées de beaucoup de gens, et j’ai tendance à placer une plus grande confiance dans la réalité que la sagesse humaine. Here Michio Yamauchi Tokyo series is published containing a collection of snapshots taken in between 2005-2007. A project which began in 1980s, Tokyo 2005-2007 contains images which have primarily been captured in Shinjuku, Asakusa and Shibuya. The images both reflect and portray not only the individuals who inhabit the spaces of the city but also the atmosphere of the streets itself. Washio beautifully captures both the subject within its space, neither taking on a greater role to the other but represented and portrayed in complete balance, harmonious and interdependent.
“In contrast with the facial exressions and gestures of people, and the light, which fundamentally remain unchanged over time, it is almost bewildering how fashions and the city keep changing so dramatically. It is a habit of mine for my photographs to be populated with a lot of people, and I tend to place greater trust in reality than human wisdom.
