Ce qui m’a le plus impressionné quand nous nous sommes installés sur la côte basque, c’est la lumière et les différents changements d’atmosphère, ce qui s’est avéré encore plus fort hors saison.
Contrairement à un voyage, où nous arrivons à une destination avec un regard vide ; marcher dans les rues d’un environnement familier devient un défi.
Chaque jour, face aux mêmes détails et atmosphères, tout peut sembler presque banal pour être intéressant.
C’est précisément ce défi qui m’intéresse : la simplicité des choses, l’esthétique fascinante de la vie quotidienne.
Mon exploration était exclusivement à pied pendant un certain temps, et j’ai remarqué que je restais toujours dans un rayon de 4km de ma maison.
Ce rituel est devenu un voyage avec des limites imaginaires, laissant libre cours aux intuitions et au hasard.
Involontairement, j’ai polarisé mes sources éternelles d’inspiration : architecture, cinéma et littérature; me rappelant George Perec et ce qu’il appelait « L’INFRA-ORDINAIRE ».
Découvrir les attitudes des personnages à partir des images que je viens de prendre était devenu un plaisir quotidien lorsque je suis revenu d’une journée de tournage.
“Après l’été” (« AFTER SUMMER ») n’est pas un projet sur le vide, mais plutôt ce qui l’entoure et l’intérieur.
Il s’agit d’observer un fragment de réalité tel que je le vois et le sens, sans la prétentation de raconter une autre histoire.

What impressed me the most when we settled on the Basque Coast was the light and different changes of atmosphere, which proved to be even stronger off-season.
Unlike a trip, where we arrive at a destination with a blank gaze; walking the streets of a familiar environment becomes a challenge.
Confronting yourself daily with the same details and atmospheres, everything can seem almost too banal to be interesting.
It is precisely this challenge that interested me : the simplicity of things, the fascinating aesthetic of everyday life.
My exploration was exclusively by foot for a specific time, and I noticed that I always stayed within a 4km* radius of my home.
This ritual became a journey with imaginary boundaries, leaving free rein to intuitions and chance and as I walked.
Unintentionally, I polarized my eternal sources of inspiration: architecture, cinema and literature ; reminding me of George Perec and what he called “L’INFRA-ORDINAIRE”.
Discovering characters’ attitudes from the images I just took had become a daily pleasure when I came back from a day of shooting.
APRES L ÉTÉ (“AFTER SUMMER”) is not a project about emptiness, but rather what is around it and within it.
It’s about observing a fragment of reality as I see feel it, without the pretension of telling any other story than the one you can make yourself by looking at the photographs.
