Le 27 décembre 2007, Benazir Bhutto, ancien Premier ministre du pays, a été assassiné à Rawalpindi, au Pakistan. Sarah Caron était coincée dans un embouteillage en taxi au même moment. Elle était en route pour un événement avec Bhutto et s’est soudainement retrouvée au milieu de l’une des phases les plus turbulentes de la République islamique. Elle a déjà attiré l’attention avec ses premières œuvres, créées en Inde et présentées au festival Visa pour l’Image en 1999. Caron, qui voulait devenir danseuse de ballet, est guidée par son instinct journalistique. La plupart de ses œuvres sont créées au Pakistan, où elle a passé la moitié de chaque année au cours des quinze dernières années. Caron a vu le pays sous toutes ses facettes : des régions dangereuses où règnent les seigneurs tribaux aux défilés de haute couture à Karachi.

On 27 December 2007, Benazir Bhutto, the country’s former prime minister, was assassinated in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Sarah Caron was stuck in a traffic jam by taxi at the same moment. She was on her way to an event with Bhutto and suddenly found herself in the middle of one of the most turbulent phases of the Islamic Republic. She already attracted attention with her first works, which were created in India and shown at the Visa pour l’Image festival in 1999. Caron, who actually wanted to become a ballet dancer, is guided by her journalistic instinct. Most of her work is created in Pakistan, where she has spent half of each year for the past fifteen years. Caron has seen the country in all its facets: from the dangerous regions where tribal lords rule to the catwalks of haute couture in Karachi.
