Sanne Peper’s project about the Deep South, a highly complex cultural region of the United States culminates in the publication of ‘Slowtime, Alabama & The Beautiful Sadness’, a fairytale-like exploration of good and evil, the human condition, an alt-right chipmunk who goes by the name of Jeremiah Day, and ultimately the fear of the Other.

The title refers both to the study of the medium as to the logic of photography games. Pendant plus de quarante ans, les négatifs et les clichés de Hans Bruggeman se trouvaient dans la maison familiale. Jusqu’à ce que sa fille de Lotus Michiko Bruggeman-Thieme ouvre les boîtes et soit étonnée de la qualité des prises de vue. Elle en a fait un livre avec les photos de son père hippie. Et aussi un peu d’elle-même.
