Ken Domon ; Le Maître du réalisme japonais

Ce catalogue de la première exposition en France consacrée à l’une des figures les plus marquantes de l’histoire de la photographie japonaise : Ken Domon (1909-1990) réunit une centaine d’images de ce pionnier de la photographie réaliste, produites entre les années 1930 et 1970. Les multiples facettes de son travail sont ici révélées : son approche du photojournalisme au début de sa carrière, l’inévitable tournant vers la photographie de propagande dans les années 1930, son témoignage bouleversant sur Hiroshima, ses touchants portraits d’enfants des rues et de célébrités, enfin sa fascination pour les anciens temples et la sculpture bouddhique.
