Mes projets commencent généralement par des observations, de l’intuition et des sentiments. En éditant mes photos, j’ai eu l’impression que l’Angleterre est un pays aux contrastes sociaux importants. J’ai observé des lieux fermés au sein de communautés qui véhiculaient une culture, des codes sociaux et des comportements propres à une catégorie sociale particulière. Sur la base de cette observation, j’ai sélectionné des lieux et des environnements à photographier selon leurs catégories sociales et culturelles.
Un écrivain a fait remarquer, avec une touche de moquerie affectueuse, que l’anglais pouvait être un sujet fascinant pour un ethnologue. Leurs excentricités, leur humour, leur sens de la morale et leur tendance à l’excès fournissent un matériel infini pour des récits créatifs. A ma manière, je cherche à capter ces nuances par mon projet de documentaire photographique.

From England with Love n’est pas un projet photojournalistique mais un projet de photographie documentaire profondément inspiré par l’esthétique et la culture de la photographie de rue.
Ces photographies servent de « cartes postales » visuelles, offrant un aperçu de la diversité culturelle de l’Angleterre, sans jugement ni parti pris, sur le dos duquel pourrait être écrit l’expression intemporelle « From England With Love »; avec une préface de Stephen Leslie, Réalisateur, scénariste et photographe londonien.
Usually my projects start with observations, intuition, and feelings. While editing my photos, I had the impression that England is a country with significant social contrasts. I observed enclosed places within communities which conveyed a culture, social codes and behaviours specific to a particular social category. Based on this observation, I selected places and environments to photograph according to their social and cultural categories.
A writer once remarked, with a touch of affectionate mockery, that the English could be a fascinating subject for an ethnologist. Their eccentricities, humor, sense of morality, and tendency for excess provide endless material for creative storytelling. In my own way, I aim to capture these nuances through my photographic documentary project.
From England with Love is not a photojournalistic project but a documentary photography project deeply inspired by the aesthetics and culture of street photography.
These photographs serve as visual “postcards,” offering a glimpse into England’s cultural diversity, with no judgment or bias, on the back of which could be written the timeless phrase “From England With Love.” ; with a foreword by Stephen Leslie, film director, screenwriter and photographer from London.
