William Klein s’est lancé dans ce projet pour documenter le quartier new-yorkais de Brooklyn, une ville qu’il appelle « l’Amérique de demain ».
Commandé par Sony, exclusivement pour leur nouveau programme Global Imaging Ambassadors, c’est la première fois que Klein photographie entièrement sur des appareils photo numériques.
Sa carrière artistique continue de produire des œuvres aujourd’hui. Soixante ans après son travail “Life is Good and Good for You in New York”, photographe et artiste renommé, William Klein est revenu à ses racines pour documenter Brooklyn. L’énergie et la composition des images sont classiques. William Klein, qui à 86 ans, continue d’impressionner ses pairs et critiques.
À ce sujet William Klein dit “Brooklyn pour moi, qui suis un homme de Manhattan, a toujours été un mystère. Cette année, c’est devenu une découverte photographique. Avec le Sony A99, la photographie a été un plaisir. L’appareil a été un partenaire, plutôt qu’un fardeau. Et la qualité des photos s’est révélée être une révélation inattendue. »
Débutant pour la première fois en France à la Polka Galerie, l’exposition à Paris sera suivie d’une exposition à Londres à la Somerset House (du 1er au 18 mai 2014) et à New York à la Howard Greenberg Gallery. Les expositions sont parrainées par Sony, en collaboration avec WPO.

Ils se sont séparés. Un homme est venu nous rejoindre. C’était un Rabin tchèque qui était arrivé ici en 1980, un amateur de baseball et de photographie. Il m’a reconnu et m’a demandé ce que vous faisiez. Nous lui avons dit. Il nous a demandé si nous voulions voir une séance de prière et d’étude hassidique. C’était à seulement un pâté de maisons. “A midnight scene… only in Brooklyn. My assistant and I were watching a mediocre minor league double header. The Staten Island Yankees versus the Coney Island Mets. Their split. A man came over to join us. He was a Czech Rabin who had arrived here in 1980, a baseball and photography fan. He recognised me and asked, “What are you guys doing?” We told him. William Klein sets out on this project to document the New York borough of Brooklyn, a city he refers to as ‘the America of tomorrow’.
Commissioned by Sony, exclusively for their new Global Imaging Ambassadors programme, this is the first time Klein produces work entirely on digital cameras.
His artistic career continues to produce work today. Sixty years after his work “Life is Good and Good for You in New York”, notoriously re-known photographer and artist, William Klein returned to his native roots to document Brooklyn. The energy and composition of the images are classic. WilliamKlein, who at 86 years old, continues to impress his peers and critics.
Of the programme, William Klein says, “Brooklyn for me, a Manhattanite, has always been a mystery. This year, it became a photographic discovery. With the Sony a99, photography has been a pleasure. The camera has been a partner, rather than a burden. And the quality of the photos have proven to be an unexpected revelation.”
