Tamiko Nishimura : Looking Back
Les photographies de la publication « Looking Back » (2024) de Tamiko Nishimura ont été prises entre 1968 et 1970.
Elles proviennent de photographies prises alors que Nishimura était encore étudiante dans une école de photographie, lors d’explorations dans la région d’Okinawa avant l’entrée en vigueur de l’accord de réversion en 1971, à ses voyages dans le nord du Japon.
The photographs in Tamiko Nishimura’s 2024 publication « Looking Back » were taken between 1968 and the 1970s.
They range from photographs taken while Nishimura was still a student at a photography school, to explorations of Okinawa before the Reversion Agreement came into effect in 1971, to her travels in northern Japan.

In 2012 I went through his contact sheets and found previously unseen images. These all contributed to a show the Media Space in 2013 where his iconic early images were shown alongside these new discoveries. There has not been a book of Tony Ray-Jones’s work in print for many years, so this new publication, from Martin Parr Foundation and RRB Photobooks will correct this oversight and the accompanying show will give us a chance to enjoy this important photographer’s immense contribution to British documentary photography.” – Martin Parr
