Le titre fait référence à un célèbre projet de photographie de l’artiste américain Robert Adams intitulé « Summer Nights, Walking », qui a été réalisé dans la ville de Denver, au Colorado. L’intention d’Ed Panar est de créer quelque chose spécifiquement sur Pittsburgh, dans lequel il met en évidence les qualités uniques des récentes saisons d’hiver dans cette région, avec un œil sur le changement climatique et les hivers sombres de la pandémie de Covid-19. Errant seul dans la ville la nuit, Panar nous invite à considérer l’espace familier de la ville dans son ravissement étrange, avec un sentiment accru de calme et de tranquillité tout autour, comme si le monde lui-même avait été mis en sourdine.

The title refers to a celebrated photography project by the American artist Robert Adams entitled ‘Summer Nights, Walking’, which was made in the city of Denver, Colorado. While the project could be seen as a nod to Adams, Panar’s intention is to create something specifically about Pittsburgh, in which he highlights the unique qualities of the recent winter seasons in this region, with an eye towards the changing climate and the dark winters of the Covid-19 pandemic. Wandering the city alone at night, Panar invites us to consider the familiar space of the city in its uncanny delight, with a heightened sense of stillness and quiet all around, as if the world itself has been placed on mute.
