Avec SCENE, Alex Majoli a généré de nouvelles interprétations sur la relation entre les hommes et leur théâtralité quotidienne. Dans Opera Aperta, l’auteur reprend le discours développé précédemment et exaspère l’ambiguïté entre réalité et fiction : « En février 2020, j’étais à Reggio Emilia, où je travaillais sur un nouveau chapitre de mon projet SCENE, ma recherche photographique à long terme sur la théâtralité de la vie quotidienne. Alors que je cherchais de nouveaux tournants, la pandémie a commencé à s’insinuer dans mes photos ; le 8 mars, j’ai décidé d’interrompre le projet pour photographier la situation dans le pays. Après plus d’un an, j’ai repris l’histoire. L’Opéra Aperta est le résultat de ce travail, et non seulement de la photographie, mais aussi d’un paragraphe ouvert sur la tragédie contemporaine de la COVID-19. »

With SCENE, Alex Majoli has generated new interpretations about the relationship between men and their daily theatricality. In Opera Aperta, the author takes up the previously developed discourse and exasperates the ambiguity between reality and fiction – “In February 2020, I was in Reggio Emilia, where I was working on a new chapter of my SCENE project, my long-term photographic research about the theatricality of everyday life. While I was searching for new turning points, the pandemic started insinuating itself in my photos; on March 8th, I decided to interrupt the project to photograph the situation in the country. After over a year, I picked the story up again. Opera Aperta is the result of this work; not just photography, but an open paragraph on the contemporary tragedy of Covid-19.”
