« L’une des principales motivations pour lancer ODE était de rendre hommage, littéralement, à la fraternité et à l’amitié féminine. Tout au long de ma vie, j’ai été inspirée par le pouvoir et l’unité des femmes, et cette admiration continue de croître. Le lien et la connexion dont je suis souvent témoin et dont je fais l’expérience chez les femmes revêtent une grande importance pour moi. Il m’a frappé comment ce lien est souvent déformé dans les médias populaires comme toxique, dramatique, ou hostile, et parfois, l’amitié féminine est complètement négligée.
« En réponse, j’ai entrepris de créer un récit photographique qui présenterait une perspective différente de l’amitié, tout en conservant l’authenticité. J’ai photographié de nombreux couples de meilleurs amis, principalement dans l’espace public, dans le but d’explorer l’essence de leurs liens à travers le portrait, le langage corporel et le mouvement. »
“One of the primary motivations for starting ODE was to pay homage, quite literally, to sisterhood and female friendship. Throughout my life, I’ve been inspired by the power and unity of women, and that admiration continues to grow. The bond and connection that I often witness and experience among women hold significant importance to me. It struck me how this bond is frequently misrepresented in popular media as ‘toxic’, dramatic, or hostile, and at times, female friendship is overlooked altogether.
“In response, I set out to create a photographic narrative that would present a different perspective on friendship, while maintaining authenticity. I photographed numerous pairs of best friends, mostly in public space, aiming to explore the essence of their connections through portraiture, body language and movement.”
