Chacun des sujets présentés — la famille de Nixon, les couples, les paysages urbains de Boston et les patients gravement malades — est né comme un projet à part entière. Cependant, rétrospectivement, Nicholas Nixon réalisa que les quatre séries indépendantes articulaient collectivement son voyage photographique de dix ans pour honorer et donner forme aux gens et aux lieux qui le touchent puissamment.
Live Love Look Last brings together photographs from the past decade of Nicholas Nixon’s artistic career. Each of the subjects presented—Nixon’s family, couples, Boston cityscapes, and critically ill patients—originated as a project in its own right. In retrospect, however, Nixon realized the four independent series collectively articulated his ten-year photographic journey to honor and give form to the people and places that powerfully move him. -

This long collaboration between the stylist Azzedine Alaïa and the photographer Arthur Elgort is the subject of an exhibition in Paris at the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa running from January 23 to August 20 2023 and the accompanying monograph, entitled ‘Freedom’, which presents more than 150 timeless classic black-and-white pictures.

Amateur photographer Leonard Fink lived and worked in New York City, documenting over 25 years of its gay life, including pride parades, bars, and especially the decaying architecture of the West Side piers, which served as a space for gay men to interact socially and sexually. From the mid-1970s onwards, Fink captured this time of empowerment, cruising, sexual freedom, and openness and experimentation, and his large collection of photographs has proven to be a significant and engaging visual record of the citys gay subculture before the rise of HIV/AIDS would forever change it. This publication marks the first time Finks images have come together as a group.

Paul Strand
Paul Strand était l’un des grands photographes du XXe siècle. Dans sa jeunesse, il étudia sous la direction de Lewis Hine et fut acclamé par des sources aussi illustres qu’Alfred Stieglitz. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Strand a voyagé à travers le monde pour photographier, et, dans le processus, créé un ensemble dynamique et significatif de travaux. Une importante rétrospective de son travail a été présentée au Philadelphia Museum of Art en octobre 2014.
Paul Strand was one of the great photographers of the twentieth century. As a youth, he studied under Lewis Hine and went on to draw acclaim from such illustrious sources as Alfred Stieglitz. After World War II, Strand traveled around the world to photograph, and, in the process, created a dynamic and significant body of work. A major retrospective of his work was shown at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in October 2014.
