Photographe, enseignante, Via Wynroth a réalisé ces portraits dans un «refuge» en suivant sa sœur lors de soins infirmiers où elle a travaillé comme assistante sociale pendant deux ans. Elle a reçu son M.F.A. diplôme de la School of the Art Institute of Chicago; elle a été directrice de l’éducation au Centre international de photographie de New York pendant plusieurs années. Livre est dédié à Cornell Capa et inscrit sur la page de titre par le sujet d’une de ses photographies: “Bernie, je suis profondément reconnaissant d’avoir sauvé ma vie en me guidant vers un lieu merveilleux et nourrissant”.

Via Wynroth a été la première directrice de l’éducation au Centre international de la photographie et était extrêmement avancée dans sa réflexion et ses pratiques de recrutement. Elle a eu un impact énorme sur une génération de photographes et a soutenu des organisations qui les soutenaient. Elle a été l’une des premières conseillères et une conférencière invitée chaleureusement accueillie qui a partagé son travail et ses réflexions sur sa vie et sa carrière.

Photographer, teacher, Via Wynroth took these portraits in a ‘shelter-care’ home and its sister nursing home where she worked as a social worker for two years. She received her M.F.A. degree form the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; she was the Director of Education at the International Center of Photography in New York for a number of years. Book is dedicated to Cornell Capa and inscribed on the title page by the subject of one of her photographs :” Bernie, I am deeply gratfeul for having saved my life by guiding me to a wonderful and nourishing place”.

Via Wynroth was the first Director of Education at the International Center of Photography, and was extremely forward in her thinking and hiring practices. She had a huge impact on a generation of photographers, and supported organizations that supported them. She was an early advisor, and a warmly received guest speaker who shared her work and thoughts about her life and career.
