Afropean: A Journal gives an alternative interrail map of Europe, taking the reader to places like Cova Da Moura, the Cape Verdean shantytown on the outskirts of Lisbon with its own underground economy, and Rinkeby, the area of Stockholm that is eighty percent Muslim. Johny Pitts visits the former Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow, where West African students are still making the most of Cold War ties with the USSR, and Clichy Sous Bois in Paris, which gave birth to the 2005 riots, all the while presenting Afropeans as lead actors in their own story.

Carmen Winant presents her project Arrangements with an eponymous exhibit in Le Salon of L’Appartement – Espace Images Vevey an area usually assigned to spotlighting a book and also outdoors on Avenue Paul-Cérésole.
La pratique de Carmen Winant se caractérise par la collection assidue d’images et par des techniques expérimentales de collage, dont elle fait usage pour étudier les dynamiques de « survie et de révolte féministes ». Avec son projet Arrangements, la Lauréate du Prix du Livre Images Vevey 2021/2022 innove en réarrangeant des pleines pages issues de magazines ou de livres d’artistes. Puisant dans une collection de plus de 2000 pages, elle les assemble par paires selon des affinités – thématiques ou formelles – ou au gré du hasard. Elle déploie leur contenu de façon surprenante, en vue d’intentions éditoriales inédites : placées côte à côte, ces pages déchirées font naître de nouveaux récits relationnels.
Carmen Winant’s artwork involves diligently collecting images and experimenting with collage techniques which she then uses to investigate the dynamics of ‘feminist survival and revolt’. With her innovative Arrangements project, the Laureate of the Images Vevey Book Award 2021/2022 rearranged entire pages taken from magazines or artists’ books. Drawing from a collection of over 2000 pages, she assembled them in pairs according to a shared topic or form, or at random. Carmen Winant reveals their content in a surprising way, with new editorial purposes in mind. Placed side by side, these torn pages shape new relational narratives.
